Past event: Data Center Consolidation Summit

In 2010 the Federal Government began what could be the largest data center consolidation project in history. The Federal Data Center Consolidation initiative has mandated a $3 billion in savings by the end of fiscal 2012, reducing the overall cost of data center operations and energy consumption by Federal Agencies. Over the course of the last ten years, the number of data centers has more than tripled. Currently, there are over 2,000 data centers in use across the federal government with little reuse or sharing of resources within or across Agencies.

Additionally, data centers consume a growing portion of the Nation’s energy/electricity supply due to a growing demand for the services they provide. The next five years will showcase a focused energy around data center consolidation. IDGA’s Data Center Consolidation conference will focus on current and future efforts in consolidation and optimization of data center resources
