Past event: European Base Oils & Lubricants Summit 2016

Our European Base Oils & Lubricants Summit is returning to Poland for the first time since 2011 and will be taking place in the capital city of Warsaw on 14-15 September.

As the name of the conference suggests, the focus will be on European markets for base oils & lubricants including insights into  global activities having an impact on the European industry.

The two day conference will offer excellent opportunities for you to network with an estimated 100-150 of your peers from base oil producers, lubricant blenders, additive suppliers, OEMs, trade & distribution companies, market analysts & consultancies.

Key Topics

  • European macroeconomics & the impact on lubricant consumption
  • Driving change across the value chain
  • The impact of low crude & base oil prices on the re-refining industry
  • Base oil market overview providing global & regional supply & demand balances for Groups I, II, III & IV with a focus on:
-- The strategic impacts to European blenders caused by potentially reduced supplies of Heavy Neutrals & Bright Stocks as a result of declining Group I capacity?
-- Can Group III+ base oils optimise the use of PAO?
  • Group II growth in Europe as it becomes an increasingly popular choice for PCMO & HDEO formulations following continued decline in Group I capacity & increasing technical changes
  • The impact of low crude & base oil prices on the re-refining industry in Europe: what can refiners do to remain competitive in this environment?
  • Environmentally friendly lubricants in Europe: especially biolubricants & the potential for renewable source feedstocks
  • Hydraulic oils: the need for improved performance standards to meet increased user demands & the impacts on base oil additive selection
  • PAGs in the future of synthetic lubes
  • The future for metalworking fluids: challenges & solutions
  • Regulatory updates: GHS, REACH & BPR
  • How will truck manufacturers be responding to further improve fuel economy & reduce NOX, particulates & CO2 emissions in terms of engine, transmission & vehicle design? The impact of EURO VI (HD) n the transition from high ash to low ash oils (i.e. mineral to semi or full synthetic)
  • New ACEA sequences & particularly the new F4 & F6 categories: what impact could this have on lubricant formulations & markets (inc. base oil quality & volumes)?
  • Maintaining blending balance in an ever-changing environment
  • Low & ultra-low viscosity engine oils: challenges & opportunities including fuel economy & EU CO2 emissions regulations
  • Next generation viscosity modified for performance benefits in future formulations
  • Friction & wear - lubricating DLC surfaces
  • The use & development of modern cylinder oils for 2 stroke marine diesel engines
  • Greases moving markets
