Past event: Interoperable Open Architecture Conference

The only forum supporting tri-service Interoperable Open Architecture initiatives

Interoperable Open Architecture 2016 will bring together subject matter experts, procurement agents and other invested parties from the international community to discuss ongoing projects, offering solutions and guidelines as the open architecture approach continues to gain momentum.

Armies, Navies, and Air Forces in every modern military have adopted the principles of Interoperable Open Architecture (IOA), which speed up the acquisition and upgrading of platforms, augment the procurement of customized systems, and ultimately reduce through-life costs. NATO’s coalition offices, the European Space Agency and other procurement offices have all embraced this cost-effective strategy to keep up with the pace of technological change in an increasingly challenging economic environment.

The forum will also further the technical discussion on state-of-the-art programmes including LAVOSAR II, SoSA languages, CDS, and SBSA amongst others.

There are a myriad of reasons you should attend the Interoperable Open Architecture Event, from getting to network with international architecture experts to learning best practices from esteemed practitioners in your field.

Check out the top 5 reasons you should attend this year's event:

  • Be able to recognise how common architecture frameworks have been implemented in tri-service environment, to enable cheaper and faster systems integration for Land Platforms with LAVOSAR II, Naval Surface Warships with SoA, and Air Jetfighters with FACE standards
  • See the transition of interoperability programmes from scratch, to the delivery of results in real programmes based on the needs and experience of operators and vendors: Modular Open System Architectures (MOSA), Joint Common Architecture (JCA)- and apply lessons learned to your own real-world applications
  • Support and join initiatives led by military and industry partners and achieve significant benefits, by setting standards for best practice, by assessing the implications of interoperability and promoting its benefits in the long-term for users and developers
  • Receive briefings by military and industry leaders who have implemented standardisation and interoperability through open architecture and proven that it is possible to reduce costs in their acquisition programmes, by breaking the traditional rule of “only prime contractor”
  • Open the door for future business opportunities by understanding how to develop open architecture-compatible equipment and solutions

“All very capable speakers well versed in their topics”
Derek Tatters, SELEX Galileo, Principal Software Engineer, UK

“An excellent conference that gave me a far wider appreciation of IOA issues”
Robert Kitt, Maritime Combat Systems - Combat System Evolution, UK MoD (Royal Navy)

“Very informative, as it addressed both the business and technical imperatives of the Open Architecture world”
Jean-Yves Lamarre, President, Initium Systems Inc, Canada
