Past event: Military Engineering 2017 Conference

Develop military engineering capabilities for crisis management at the tactical edge

In the previous years, military engineers were armed with heavy vehicles and tasked with maintaining readiness for high intensity warfare. The priorities for the military engineering community are beginning to change, recognising the requirements of advancing rapid reaction capabilities and incorporating sustainable energy solutions to engage in contingecy operations and deploy personnel abroad.

Military Engineering 2018 will cater for the critical requirements of combat and construction engineers by identifying innovative, cost-efficient solutions to modernise operational capabilities, augment mobility, and maximise readiness of military engineers to engage in crisis management, natural disaster relief, humanitarian operations, and continency missions in remote locations and austere environments. In addition to traditional concerns regarding mobility, manoeuvre, and installation of military facilities, engineers are facing the need to comply with environmental regulations by greening defence. Recognising the emerging technical requirements in the fields of combat support and construction of temporary facilities, the conference will enable attendees to modernise their capabilities to go in line with modern operating conditions.

Topics Covered Will Include:

  • Accelerating Mobility and Maneuver - Examine methods to ensure rapid reaction capacity, enhance ground maneuver, advance route clearance capabilities
  • Installing Temporary Facilities - Establish methodologies to advance design and construction of temporary sites
  • Operating in Austere Environments - Determine training requirements to attain interoperability, increase mission effectiveness, and enhance force protection
  • Greening Defence - Identify solutions to optimise the output of energy, comply with environmental regulations, deploy sustainable energy platforms

Why Attend Military Engineering 2018?

  • Maximise mission effectiveness by enhancing understanding of the latest CONOPS and technologies for ground manoeuvre and rapid gap-crossing capabilities with perspectives from senior commanders and top bridge-laying experts
  • Improve installation, in-service maintenance, and resilience of deployed military facilities by networking with leading construction engineers and learning about recent design innovations
  • Achieve energy and water efficiency by better understanding ways to deploy sustainable energy platforms, optimise energy systems, and install water purification mechanisms
  • Expand your EOD capabilities by meeting leading solution providers and informing your organisation of remote detection technologies
  • Attain combat superiority by augmenting battlespace awareness and informing your organisation of exploitation and geospatial engineering capabilities
  • Attend the co-located Defence Logistics forum set within the wider networking environment of Combat Support Week to strike overlapping engineering and logistics requirements
