Bridging the Gap between Ocean Science, Technology and the Naval Community
A unique international event,
Naval Survey & Ocean Intelligence will explore opportunities for collaboration between commercial industry, the ocean science community and operational navies to shape a more unified response to the challenges and threats faced in the current and future maritime domain. Improved awareness of user needs and greater cooperation will enable a wide range of stakeholders to benefit from better data gathering, analysis and information sharing technologies and processes to support naval mission planning, situational awareness and and decision-making in blue water and littoral environments.
This year's theme is 'Bridging the Gap between Ocean S&T and the Naval Community'. To maintain dominance in the ocean sciences, navies must invest in material, manpower and skills in the disciplines of oceanography and hydrography, and the continued research, development and acquisition of collection assets such as survey vessels and autonomous systems, sensor fusion and exploitation technology, and data processing and dissemination. To be effective in the long-term, such investments require strategic partnerships with the ocean science community and industry, both of which need a clear appreciation of naval mission objectives and user needs.
