Advanced Materials for Defense Summit
''Guiding the Future of Materials and Manufacturing Processes for Mission Success''

11 July, 2018 - 12 July, 2018, Alexandria, VA, United States

Our Advanced Materials for Defense Summit will detail DoD initiatives to facilitate and implement technology-based options for advanced materials and manufacturing processes. The program will discuss the utilization of strategic materials and manufacturing processes and how they significantly alter the cost, sustainability, and readiness capabilities of DoD logistics operations.

Topics to be Covered at the 2018 Summit

  • Advancing innovative materials research for critical defense needs
  • Providing support to global logistics operations through enhanced manufacturing capabilities
  • Developing high performance structural materials for Warfighting capabilities
  • Developing materials and manufacturing sciences to ensure the development of affordable advanced materials
  • Integrating high reward strategic materials that provide higher levels of combat power
  • Ensuring material readiness and maintenance for major weapons systems
  • Guiding 3D printing processes to accelerate Army manufacturing processes
  • Integrating strategic materials onto soldier clothing and equipment to defeat and reduce threats of fragmentation and heat
  • Assessing the impact of foreign investments into acquisition materials in the US
  • Managing the utilization of Rare Earth Elements across the DoD

Why You Should Attend this Year's Summit:

Our Advanced Materials for Defense Summit will serve as an educational forum for personnel from DoD, Military Services, Federal Agencies, and Industry to discuss the efforts to facilitate and implement technology-based options for advanced materials and manufacturing processes. The utilization of these strategic materials and engineering processes will help to drive down manufacturing costs and improve sustainability and readiness capabilities for the Warfighter.

Strategic materials and manufacturing processes are helping to advance current and future DoD logistics operations. Developing intuitive technologies to assist these operations is essential. With additional funding being designated to develop these advanced processes, there has come a greater push to ensure life cycle management for all major weapons systems and service platforms across the Military. Critical materials and manufacturing processes maintenance is vital to the maintaining and developing of US defensive capabilities.

To maximize the end products and enhanced capabilities these strategic materials and engineering processes have to offer, increased research and understanding of their knowledge gaps must occur. This will in turn provide the U.S. Military with greater operational flexibility and assist in the overall readiness capabilities of the Warfighter going forward.

Join us for this year's Advanced Materials for Defense Summit to discuss the DoD's plan to address the opportunities and challenges it will face, in trying to enhance the defensive industrial base with advanced materials and manufacturing processes.
