Past event: Advanced Materials for Defense Summit 2019

Applying Innovative Materials and Manufacturing Processes for Operational Superiority

Our 3rd Annual Advanced Materials for Defense Summit will bring together members of the Military Services, DoD Labs, Federal Government, Academia, and Industry for a 'Town-Hall' type forum to discuss current and future initiatives to enable the integration of innovative, technology-based solutions for advanced materials and manufacturing processes. The development and implementation of strategic materials and manufacturing processes will aid in reducing cost, as well as provide sustainability and readiness capabilities for DoD logistics operations.

Topics Covered at the 2019 Summit:

  • Developing affordable material solutions for current and future operating environments to ensure a decisive overmatch for the Warfighter
  • Facilitating a sustainable and innovative defense industrial base in support of the Warfighter
  • Delivering efficient policy on materiel readiness and maintenance for major weapons systems across the DoD
  • Utilizing advanced materials to better enhance the performance of Soldier systems
  • Advancing the full-spectrum of materials and manufacturing processes for USAF air superiority
  • Using innovative materials & processing to improve the affordability and reliability of Naval platforms
  • Ensuring material readiness across the Marine Corps for operational success
  • Leveraging strategic materials to help keep hypersonic vehicles from overheating
  • Implementing innovative material solutions for corrosion prevention and control

Why You Should Attend this Year's Summit:

Our 3rd Annual Advanced Materials for Defense Summit will discuss current and future initiatives that are helping to assist with the implementation of modernized and innovative technologies for advanced materials and manufacturing processes. The facilitation and integration of strategic materials and manufacturing processes will enable reduced cost, as well as provide increased sustainability and readiness capabilities for DoD logistics and maintenance operations.

As critical new DoD initiatives and funding efforts are being proposed for Hypersonics and Space, the emphasis on how to utilize these materials to assist in improving the performance and durability of various platforms and vehicles will be crucial. This agenda will further delve into how the various Military branches and Labs are striving to improve the size, weight, and power (SWaP) of these systems by using advanced materials.

The 2019 Summit will detail how continued R&D efforts are needed to understand the knowledge gaps with strategic materials and engineering processes. This will in turn provide greater operational flexibility and enhanced readiness capabilities for the Warfighter moving forward. Join us for this year's Advanced Materials for Defense Summit to discuss the DoD's plan to address the opportunities and challenges it will face, in trying to propel the defense industrial base with advanced materials and manufacturing processes.
