Welcome to Interoperable Open Architecture 2012!
Open architectures, as we have come to know them, are not necessarily as open as we might like. Whilst new modules can be interchanged and integrated with significantly less hassle than in closed systems, often the open systems still use proprietary code or data dictionaries that prevent third party installation of new sub systems.
INTEROPERABLE OPEN ARCHITECTURE looks to make open systems truly open by championing the use of middleware solutions based on open source, publically available standards. The result is an architecture where anyone with the necessary skill set can design and install a sub-system into the platform, resulting in cheaper, faster and smarter procurement
Attend IOA 2012 in order to:
- Drive efforts to reduce the time and cost of procurement within your organisation by learning lessons from the UK MoD’s Land Open Systems Architecture and the US DoD’s UAS Control Segment programmes
- Dramatically improve system and system-of-systems interoperability by adopting, and helping to develop, international architectural standards, as showcased by the Military Vetronics Organisation and NATO’s Research and Technology Organisation
- Improve the flexibility of your future air assets by involving yourself with the Future Airbourne Capability Environment standard, published by the Open Group
- Develop a detailed knowledge of the benefits of open standards and improve your own architectural designs in our fantastic workshops hosted by the Network Technical Authority, UK MoD and the Object Management Group
I am looking forward to sharing with the thought leaders from multiple nations ideas, methodologies, and approaches that enable and streamline the acquisition and implementation of interoperable architectures
Gordon Hunt, Chair, UCS Sub Committee, US DoD
