1 EVENT, 3 CONFERENCES
The Future Indirect Fires Conference will be held in Bristol, UK on 10th & 11th March 2020. The aim of the conference is to examine the likely development of Joint Lethal & Non Lethal Indirect Fires during the next decade. The conference will build on the 2018 event with an authoritative speaker panel of international Military Officers and Industry experts. The conference will act as a forum to review best practise for Equipping, Training, Integrating and Applying Indirect Fires in the future.
There will be three streams within one large venue:
- Artillery
- Mortars
- Defence Simulation Training & Education (DSET)
Each stream will have its own room for presentations. There will be a combined breakout area with an exhibition and catering.
Attendees can attend presentations in whichever stream they choose within the single ticket price.
Who Attends?
The
Future Indirect Fires Conference will be attended by requirements and acquisition officials from the Land Systems divisions on national procurement bodies, as well as senior military Officers from nations across the world. Also present will be the senior management of the leading industry contractors providing relevant technologies.

By locating the Artillery Conference with the Mortar Conference and the Defence Simulation Education & Training Conference (DSET) we are better able to address other linked contemporary Indirect Fires challenges. The role of Mortars in close combat remains undiminished and the technical and operational boundaries between traditional Artillery & Infantry indirect fires roles are increasingly blurred. Also, individual, crew and collective training are serious challenges within the world of Joint & Indirect Fires. By collocating these three events we are providing attendees access to both the Fires end user operational needs and the synthetic training solutions to those needs.
There will be three lecture theatres to host each stream and a common exhibition and catering area. Attendees to any event will have full access to the other two streams within the ticket price and may pick & choose which presentations they attend.
Mortar Systems Stream
The Mortar Systems Conference is the leading unclassified forum for Mortar Systems in Europe. Now in its 16th year the conference brings together all the leading Mortar user and manufacturing organisations around the world. The conference will develop the themes discussed in the last 15 years with a series of presentations covering the whole subject area from a military practitioner and an industry technological point of view. Like previous conferences the speakers will be a range of international military and industry subject matter experts.

Training & Simulation Stream
For 2020, DSET (Defence Simulation Education and Training) will continue to increase the military and industry attendees to the event to build upon what has become a regular community driven opportunity to meet to discuss challenges and innovations.
The DSET endeavour to deliver a community driven conference and event will continue for March 2020.
