Bridging Interdisciplinary Gaps To Create a Shared Care Model To Meet Critical Behavioral HHealth Needs of Children

The Challenge for All Involved in Child Behavioral Health

There is a crisis in the social-emotional and behavioral health of America's children, made worse by COVID-19 and limitations in our professional workforce.

Few will argue against efforts to improve access to competent mental health. However, the practical challenges are real, with shortages and maldistribution of appropriately trained and experienced professionals, such as child psychiatrists and developmental pediatricians

Efforts in these areas are often fragmented between healthcare, education, psychology, and social services.  The key to addressing this growing threat to America's children and families will be to build bridges between disciplines with expertise and proven methodologies to drive positive growth and change for children.

Building the Bridges in Disciplines this Event Will Serve

One valuable approach to meeting the needs of children and families is a 'shared care' model that supports goal-directed collaboration between the pediatric and child health communities and other professional disciplines with relevant research and complementary skills, such as applied behavior analysis.

Bridges to Behavioral Health is a national interdisciplinary 'knowledge sharing' event that bridges this interdisciplinary gap between the pediatric community and the behavior analytic community and supports collaborative links between the disciplines with regard to behavioral health and health-related behaviors.

Bridges to Behavioral Health will present validated behavior analytic approaches to common challenges and suggest how pediatricians and other child health professionals can collaborate with behavior analysts to achieve significant progress and help children achieve goals for development and learning as part of this shared care model.
