Past event: Microgrid Global Innovation Forum - North America

Optimizing microgrids for enhanced power resiliency and reliability, renewables integration, and cost efficiencies

Important Update: Due to the ongoing situation with the Covid virus / Omicron variant in California, this conference will now be held 100% virtually.

As the U.S. continues to emerge from the pandemic, focus is on decarbonizing the energy mix while improving grid resiliency, reliability and flexibility. Microgrids will play a key role in these efforts. Federal tax credits for solar PV systems (including energy storage) have been reinstated, and FERC Order 2222 is preparing the way for aggregated distributed energy resources (DERs) to participate in wholesale markets. Third-party ownership of microgrids and a trend toward smaller (less than 5 MW) replicable modular systems are also contributing to the significant growth of microgrids in the U.S.

The Microgrid Global Innovation Forum - North America, February 15-16, 2022 in San Diego brings together utilities and industry stakeholders for focused networking and in-depth information sharing concerning the latest technology developments, implementation and operation of hybrid renewable energy microgrids. The emphasis is on maximizing the business case for microgrids, integration into the larger grid, and sharing real-world case studies of both grid-tied and off-grid/remote environments.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Eliminating outages and maximizing clean energy efficiency for the C&I enterprise end user
  • Role of microgrids in decarbonizing the energy mix
  • Latest enabling technology advances, case studies and developments
  • Market drivers and opportunities in North America
  • Project modeling, financing and implementation
  • Business models and regulatory support for microgrids
  • Utility-driven microgrids and deployment partnerships
  • Public-purpose, city-community, and commercial microgrid deployments
  • Integration and interoperability with the larger grid
  • Determining the correct technology mix for hybrid energy systems
  • Advanced battery, fuel cell, and energy storage developments
  • Power control, management and integration
  • Optimizing system performance, efficiency and ROI

Who Should Attend?
