Augmenting Coast Guard Capabilities through enhanced Cooperation & Technology Adoption

The battle against illegal smuggling of drugs, weapons, wildlife, illegal immigration and human trafficking rages on and the importance of a nation's coast guard in boosting its blue economy cannot be overstated. The rise of illegal fishing threatens the potential maritime prosperity of nations. In this current maritime landscape, the role of the coast guard is actively being re-defined to be more than just civilian and more quasi- military in nature. Governments need to understand the coast guard as a key asset in maintaining maritime security and boosting maritime prosperity.

With newer threats to maritime infrastructure and security emerging (including the attack on underwater cables, drone attacks) Coast Guards must be aware of the latest technologies being used to counter these threats.
