In the 2025 fiscal year budget, the Department of Defense is seeking $14.5 billion for cyberspace endeavors. Within this larger cyberspace budget, roughly $977 million is being allocated towards zero-trust transitions and $300 million for ICAM initiatives making the total budget for identity management capabilities over $1.2 billion.  A baseline level of zero trust across the department is required by 2027, so efforts and funding have ramped up to try and achieve this goal. As technology evolves, the need to safeguard sensitive information and maintain the integrity of federal accounts becomes increasingly paramount. The U.S. federal government, entrusted with safeguarding national interests and critical data, relies on advanced systems to thwart potential threats, ensuring that only authorized personnel gain access to classified information. The 11th Annual Identity Management Symposium will address these initiatives and the importance of developments across the biometric, identity management, and zero trust sectors as they relate to national security.
