Future Indirect Fires Conference 2026

The Future Indirect Fires Conference will be held in late February 2026 in the UK. The conference will be run in conjunction with the Joint Military Training & Simulation Conference (JMTS).

Artillery remains decisive on the battlefield and is a primary area of defence investment. The Future Indirect Fires Conference will have a speaker panel of military and industry subject matter experts to examine key topics such as:
  • Lessons from current conflicts
  • Survivability
  • Increased range and precision
  • C4ISR
  • Rebooting the industrial base

Two dedicated Study Days in addition to the main conference

Study Day
Strike Drones Study Day (24th February)

The Strike Drones Study Day will be held in conjunction with the Future Indirect Fires Conference. The Study day will be run in a separate room with similar timings to the main Fires Stream to allow attendees to pick and choose which presentations to attend. 

Loitering Munitions and One Way Effectors are a disruptive technology that has blurred the traditional lines of tube and rocket Indirect Fires. The proliferation of this technology presents many challenges and also as many opportunities. By locating the Strike Drones Study Day within the Future Indirect Fires Conference we are better able to address other linked contemporary Indirect Fires challenges. 

The Strike Drones Study Day will examine best practise for integrating these systems into the indirect fires kill chain. With a speaker panel of International Military and Industry experts. Topics to be discussed include:
  • Lessons from current conflicts
  • Doctrine and Tactics for employment
  • C4ISR Integration
  • Cost vs Mass
  • System Safety and Training challenges
  • AI, autonomy and challenges

Study Day
Mortar Systems Study day (25th February)

The Mortar Systems Study Day will be held in conjunction with the Future Indirect Fires Conference. The Study day will be run in a separate room with similar timings to the main Fires Stream to allow attendees to pick and choose which presentations to attend.

By locating the Mortar Systems Conference within the Future Indirect Fires Conference we are better able to address other linked contemporary Indirect Fires challenges. The role of Mortars in close combat remains undiminished and the technical and operational boundaries between traditional Artillery & Infantry indirect fires roles are increasingly blurred.

The Mortar Systems Study Day will examine best practise for Close Support Indirect Fires with speaker panel of International Military and Industry experts. Topics to be discussed include:

Lessons from current conflicts
  • Survivability of Mortars in the close contact battlespace
  • Improving accuracy, responsiveness and mobility
  • Current projects
  • Integrating Mortars into indirect fires C4ISR
