Past event: Spatial Data Infrastructures Middle East

Building a fully interoperable and spatially enabled government through the development and maintenance of Spatial Data Infrastructures

Officially supported by the Royal Jordanian Geographic Center

Geographic information plays a key role for any government whether it be urban development, transport, security or the environment. In the Middle East the development of geographic information systems and their function has been rapid.

Governments have over the past decade realised the need to be able to access and use the vast amounts of data collected on a daily basis. Whilst individual departments or agencies posses the tools to analyse, utilise and disseminate information this can leave gaps at a governmental or even national level.

Spatial Data Infrastructures put in place the technologies, policies and institutional arrangements in order to bring together geographic and spatial intelligence to create one unified infrastructure available to multiple users.

Benefits of attending:

  • Explore Geographic Information Systems and how your specific organisation can benefit from a unified and achievable plan
  • Discuss future SDI development plans with senior Government decision makers
  • Discover end-users' GIS and geospatial requirements and solutions being considered
  • Find out the challenges faced in building an SDI and how to overcome them
  • Hear about how government department interoperability can be improved through the development of an SDI
  • Learn about the latest technologies available and which is the best fit for your SDI plans
