Past event: Prisons and Correctional Facilities Summit

Addressing key issues through design and development

The United States has, by far, more prisoners than any other country in the world with roughly a quarter of the world’s inmates. While population is on the rise, budgets are being cut and decision-makers within the industry need leaner and more efficient  facilities. This calls for reduced operating costs as well as construction and design that will accommodate inmates and alleviate the high rates of recidivism. California alone is spending more than 10 percent, roughly $9 billion of its budget, on prisons. Join us in the Golden State to hear directly from those who are implementing these extensive changes to corrections in the United States.

At this event leading experts from the government, architecture firms, and construction companies will be gathering to discuss the future design and development needs of prisons and correctional facilities. We will highlight key topics such as:

  • Alleviating overcrowding and recidivism through therapeutic design and inmate re-entry program
  • Reducing and eliminating rape through innovative design and architecture
  • Addressing the increasing need for specialized beds (including a case study)
  • 21st century trends for architectural design
  • Opportunities private prisons are offering Low cost maintenance and operating technology
  • Low cost maintenance and operating technologies
  • Security technologies used inside and outside of prisons
