Past event: Connected Cities Middle East Forum

Maximising opportunities for smart M2M technology to deliver significant financial and social benefit across the Middle East

Across the UAE, Qatar, Saudi and beyond, Smart City initiatives are driving transformations in quality of life and economic growth, all underpinned by intelligent machine-to-machine (M2M) technology.

Machina Research has predicted that the Middle East will grow from 55 million M2M connections in 2013, rising to 360 million in 2022, becoming the fastest developing M2M market in the world. Spending on M2M in the region will also increase by nearly 20%, according to the IDC.

Smart City connections amounted to 350,000 in 2013 and will rise to 12.5 million in 2022. The revenue opportunity associated with Smart Cities in the Middle East will grow to USD400 million in 2022.

The Connected Cities Middle East Forum has been designed to address the challenges in progressing towards this vision for developing more connected communities in the region, including:

  • How to measure and maximize the financial and social benefits of M2M
  • How to convert M2M Big Data into big business value
  • How to establish a regulatory framework for M2M and manage its impact on growth
  • How to innovate new business models that will drive an ROI from your M2M services

The summit will bring together the end-to-end M2M value chain under one roof to debate how to overcome barriers to growth and develop potential future partnerships. Sessions will be tailored to both telecoms operators and M2M end users drawn from key verticals, including energy, transportation and healthcare.
