Past event: Armoured Vehicles Eastern Europe 2015 Conference

Welcome back to the Armoured Vehicles Eastern Europe conference

As we discovered in 2014, the aggression of Russia against Ukraine and the subsequent annexation of Crimea has changed the security environment in Europe and forced the nations of Central and Eastern Europe to review their defence postures. Because of this the European armoured vehicles market is now estimated to lead the world, in terms of demand, over the next 10 years and, as such, the region will account for approximately a third of the global requirement.

In light of these critical factors, we invite you to join us at the next installment of the Armoured Vehicles Eastern Europe 2015 being held for the second year in Poland.

In order to assure their security, Eastern European states must also look to collective defence as well as their own independent capability. This approach must be supported by neighbours and partners to the West- if a sustainable climate of territorial security is to be achieved. Our forum therefore brings together key allied stakeholders focused on assuring security and stability in Eastern Europe.

But the region’s forces are not just focused on strengthening existing military relationships. They are actively seeking industry partners to ensure that their national defence objectives are supported by an essential backbone of highly capable, integrated and interoperable armoured vehicles. Ensuring this capacity exists on the borders of Eastern Europe is a top priority for the alliance and the 2015 summit will cover the urgent requirement to recapitalize armoured capacity and how industry can contribute to the delivery of this capability.

We are delighted that the conference is returning to Poland to showcase the exciting acquisition and upgrade programmes across the region. The Polish, in particular, are accelerating a number of procurements including the major overhaul of their light, medium and heavy armoured capability. Smaller requirements are also emerging in the Baltic market with Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania all hastening their development of new IFV and APC options complete with advanced capability.

The Eastern European border is headline news today and it will remain the driving impetus for spending across the region for years and decades to come. Armoured Vehicles Eastern Europe once again welcomes leading international industry, military and government partners to share debate on the future threats, security issues and how the armoured vehicle will form a key component of future forces.

There is now a renewed focus on armament and modernisation programmes, multinational training exercises and collective defence in the region. Consequently, levels of investment are being increased and modernisation projects accelerated. The time is therefore right to re-convene, assess and establish critical opportunities for cooperation in a formal intellectual environment. It is therefore with great pleasure that we invite you to join us again in Poland at this established forum which shapes the discussion on the future of Armoured Vehicles in Eastern Europe.

We look forward to seeing you there.
