Past event: DoD Unmanned Systems Summit 2015

''Improving the Efficiency and Effectiveness of Current and Near Term Systems''

Our DoD Unmanned Systems Summit is designed as an educational and training “Town Hall” forum, where thought leaders and key policy-makers across military and civilian organizations can come together for actionable discussions and debate. The Summit will offer a full spectrum viewpoint towards air/land/sea systems.

  • Precision handling
  • The use of unmanned systems in counter- IED/EOD and CBRN incidents
  • Spectrum management

Background:

“U.S. and allied combat operations continue to highlight the value of unmanned systems in the modern combat environment. Combatant Commanders  and warfighters value the inherent features of unmanned systems, especially their persistence, versatility, and reduced risk to human life. The U.S. military Services are fielding these systems in rapidly increasing numbers across all domains: air, ground, and maritime...

The DoD’s vision for unmanned systems is the seamless integration of diverse unmanned capabilities that provide flexible options for Joint Warfighters while exploiting the inherent advantages of unmanned technologies, including persistence, size, speed, maneuverability, and reduced risk to human life. DOD envisions unmanned systems seamlessly operating with manned systems while gradually reducing the degree of human control and decision making required for the unmanned portion of the force structure...

(Some of) the challenges facing all military Services in the Department include:  Interoperability , Autonomy, (and) Manned-Unmanned (MUM) Teaming…”
