Past event: Coastal and Border Surveillance Latin America Conference

Augmenting land based and maritime technology for achieving South American domain awareness

The unique geography of Latin America provides a number of significant challenges for intelligence and surveillance operations in the region. Vast, porous borders, extensive riverine systems, and substantial EEZ responsibilities all pose issues for persistent surveillance and accurate situational awareness. When coupled with the challenges posed by a highly active network of narcotics traffickers, arms smugglers and organized criminals, it is easy to understand why reconnaissance and surveillance systems are receiving such a focus from South American nations over the next five years.

With the Brazilian Ministry of Defence expected to announce the winner of the first phase of the coveted SisGAAz contract in October, we are entering into a crucial period for surveillance in the region. This is alongside the continued procurement efforts of the Brazilian Army’s SISFRON program and the recent announcement that the Peruvian Armed Forces SIVAN project has received funding to begin their $1 billion acquisition efforts.

In order to unpack the specific challenges of providing complete domain awareness in South American, come and join us at Coastal and Border Surveillance Latin America in Rio de Janeiro between the 28th - 29th October 2015. We are delighted to be hosting our most senior panel to date, including the Brazilian Navy discussing the latest from SisGAAz, the Peruvian Armed Forces exploring electronic detection systems as part of their SIVAN initiative as well as representatives from the Argentine Coast Guard, the Colombian Air Force, US Special Operations Command South, Guyana and more.
