Workshop 3 – Composite Repair: Preparing for Demand - Seeking Best Practice
The rise in the utilization of composites in new aircraft programs has intensified the debate over what is needed to repair these aircraft and how maintenance organization should prepare for their arrival. Airlines and MROs are entering the thick of the maintenance reality which will require higher levels of composite and advanced material repair. Yet despite their increased use, no industry consensus has been developed regarding the optimum repair techniques, ideal repair materials or best practices for training. Composite materials present unique challenges to MROs and airlines that require detailed planning and an overhaul of current procedures. This session will look at how MROs and airlines can prepare for these new structures and how the industry can work together to start the process towards standardization of practices.
