Past event: Human Terrain and its application in civil and military areas Masterclass

Overview of the Masterclass

With the world conflicts steadily moving from kinetics to cultural dimensions, the presentation will provide an overview of main trends in this area, including memetics, psychological warfare, social and cultural engineering, and ultimately, human terrain, which is even being embedded into official doctrines for solving international problems. A high-level ideology and supporting networking technology will be revealed that can effectively implement human terrain ideas in providing peaceful solutions while reducing, even avoiding, military force. The technology, based on holistic and gestalt ideas rather than traditional communicating agents and interoperability, can grasp and solve nonlocal social and cultural problems in a special high-level language. The latter is collectively interpreted in large networked spaces (which may contain billions of mobile phone and laptop users) in a controlled super-virus mode, making the approach superior to other technological means.

Why you should attend

Delegates are invited from human terrain teams, civil and military intelligence, command and control, mission planning, asymmetric warfare, army cultural, religious, and communication experts, etc. Along with tutorial on the ideology and technology offered, the audience will be engaged in collective solutions of exemplary social and cultural problems by their formal expression in the special high-level language. If the number of participants permits, the audience may be divided into opposing teams trying to resolve conflicting situations cooperatively, under the methodology presented, which could then be useful for their regular engagements.

Speaker

Peter Sapaty, Director of Distributed Simulation and Control, Institute of Mathematical Machines and Systems

Dr Peter Sapaty (educated in power networks & missile control), Chief Research Scientist, Director of Distributed Simulation and Control, Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, is with networking for 45 years. Except Ukraine, worked in Germany, UK, Canada and Japan as Alexander von Humboldt awardee, project leader, research professor and invited professor, created and chaired special interest group on Mobile Cooperative Technologies within Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) project in the US. Invented high-level distributed control technology used in different countries and resulted in a European Patent and two John Wiley books, with the third one in progress. Published more than 160 scientific papers worldwide on distributed system organizations. Current areas of interest: models and languages for coordination and simulation of distributed dynamic systems with application in cooperative robotics, emergency management, command and control, and infrastructure protection. Peter regularly served as workshop organizer, sessions chair, keynote and invited speaker at scientific and defence conferences in the UK, US, Japan, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Singapore, India, and Turkey. His bio is in Marquis Who’s Who in the World and Cambridge Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century.
