Past event: Future Mortar Systems Conference 2012

The Evolving Importance of Organic Fire Support

Our Future Mortar Systems conference annually attracts an international audience to share knowledge on key developments in the world of mortars. Taking place 29th-31st October in London, the 2012 conference will explore the developments that are transforming the mortar into the weapon of choice for the war fighter; excelling at its traditional role but capable of rivalling precision and direct fire systems.

The 2012 conference will explore the developments that are revolutionising mortar systems:

  • Network and build relationships at our most multinational mortar systems conference to date. Meet international colleagues, benchmark success and share best practice with the leading experts on mortar systems.
  • Engage in debate on Insensitive Munitions. Gain a holistic view on IM with leading experts sharing their knowledge and end users sharing their concerns. Discover IM will perform, how long they can be stored, their capability and cost.
  • Understand mortars in the context of Joint Fires. With presentations and panel discussions on how mortars fit into the wider Joint Fires picture that considers the land, air and maritime domains.
  • Discuss improvements in precision munitions and the importance of the tactics of suppression. Evolution or revolution: discuss the versatility of what has become the infantry weapon of choice.
  • Gain strategic notice on the future of mortar systems. Hear from industry and military colleagues as well as research experts to build up a clear vision of the future of this capability.
