Past event: Arctic Security Conference 2024

Enhancing Capabilities to Combat Tomorrow’s Arctic Threats

As climate change creates new routes through the Arctic, allies must reassess their approach to the region’s security to maintain their readiness to act in such a specialised environment. Arctic Security 2024 will bring together key stakeholders working in the Arctic to discuss emerging issues, including the protection of sovereignty and the challenges associated with the use of patrol vessels in Arctic waters, as well as offering ample opportunities to engage with other military leaders and industry experts throughout the event. With increasing interest in Arctic waters from Russia and China, now is the ideal time to create new dialogues with allies that will protect the region and those who operate within it.

What's new for 2024?

  • Hear updates from the latest cold-weather exercises and discuss observations that will shape future strategies
  • Examine capabilities and operations across the sea, land, and air domains to allow a broader scope for discussions and enhanced learning
  • Explore how climate change is impacting the Arctic and what consequences it will have for the future of defence in the region

Join us at Arctic Security 2024 to:

  • Hear from leading Arctic Commands who are actively facing the challenges of the region, including the need for improved naval capabilities that can adapt to the harsh environments of the Arctic.
  • Improve understanding of emerging threats in the Arctic, such as the increased accessibility due to climate change, and learn how nations are overcoming these through specialised training and new capabilities.
  • Get updates from the latest cold-weather exercises, including Nordic Response and Freezing Winds, to discover the key observations and how these can be applied to future operations.
  • Hear about upcoming requirements from Nordic states and their procurement plans as the Arctic becomes more important to their strategy and operations.
  • Create productive dialogues with senior military leaders and industry partners in order to foster new connections across the Arctic regions and beyond that can lead to enhanced cooperation and improved security for allies.
