About the Laureate Awards

The Aviation Week Laureate Awards, celebrating 56 years, recognize individuals and teams for their extraordinary accomplishments. Their achievements embody the spirit of exploration, innovation, vision or any combination of these attributes that inspire others to strive for significant, broad-reaching progress in aviation and aerospace.

Awards will be presented in each of the following categories:

  • Aeronautics/Propulsion
  • Business/General Aviation
  • Commercial Air Transport
  • Defense
  • IT/Electronics
  • MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul)
  • Space
  • Workforce
  • The Philip J. Klass Award for Lifetime Achievement
  • Aviation Week Heroism Award

In addition, Aviation Week will present the Tomorrow’s Leaders Award.  This award honors the young men and women who have chosen career paths in the armed forces: graduates from the US Naval Academy, US Coast Guard Academy, US Air Force Academy and the US Military Academy.

Awards will be presented at a black-tie reception in Washington, on March 7, 2013. With the exception of the Lifetime Achievement category, all Laureate awards will be based on accomplishments in 2012.
