Why You Should Attend This Summit
The Department of Defense is the single largest energy consumer in the United States and consumes approximately 76% of total federal energy consumption. This stems from the deployment of high advanced technological systems that require reliable and secure power to maintain mission readiness. There remains the critical need to fuel facilities, installations, platforms, weapon systems, equipment, and operations abroad and domestically. The DoD faces a great deal of challenges to achieve these objectives in an ever-changing threat landscape of advanced adversaries, natural disasters, aging infrastructure, and cyber-attacks. This year's summit will bring together energy and power leaders in the federal government and defense to address how they are adapting to these challenges and promoting energy security.
This year's iteration will explore the importance of unleashing American energy potential to power the Department of the Defense. Leaders from across academia, industry, and government will bring unique perspectives on the advancement of energy and power technology and policy. Speakers will address the recent advancements in subjects like flexible nuclear energy, beamed energy, and joint perspectives on energy and power policy. These perspectives will give attendees a deeper understanding of how experts are powering our military in the modern era. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with senior leaders from the energy and power community, hearing firsthand and engaging about the technologies, strategies, and policies relevant to the Department of Defense's energy and power needs.
