Past event: International Dismounted Soldier Conference 2022

This year's International Dismounted Soldier (IDS) conference, chaired by Lieutenant General (Ret.) James Bashall, will focus on infantry's role in multi-domain warfare, Command and Control at range, Future Soldier Programs, enhancing organic firepower, training and simulation, challenges posed by future operating environments, and doing all this mindful of the burden placed on the dismounted soldier.

The theme for the 2022 conference is Enhancing Future Soldier Firepower and Lethality. Alongside these highly relevant topics the conference agenda will include a day dedicated to identifying lessons from the conflict in Ukraine, considering the challenges and potential that the dismounted soldier can face in contemporary conflict.

The IDS forum is dedicated to bringing together end-users and industry to advance current capability for the solider platform.

Attend the Conference to:

  • Gain insight from NATO and partner nations on increasing dismounted close combat lethality and survivability
  • Optimize the soldier platform by integrating critical technologies and advanced equipment while managing the cognitive and physical burden
  • Identify potential lessons that can be learned from contemporary conflicts, specifically the role of the dismounted soldier in Ukraine – looking at complex terrain and the use of anti-armour capabilities
  • Share best practice to ensure interoperability can continue to be achieved for collective defence and future coalition operations
  • Understand how armies and marine corps are addressing the most pressing challenges faced by the dismounted soldier in the contemporary congested battlespace
  • Discuss organic dismounted firepower and learn from current procurement projects to understand how nations are advancing their capability to deliver lethal effects
